From the analysis of the stainless steel coil application industry, the automotive industry is currently the fastest developing field of stainless steel coil application. In the past decade, the consumption of stainless steel coils for automobiles in Japan has increased from an average of 10 kilograms to 30 kilograms, while in the United States it has exceeded 40 kilograms. Stainless steel rolling plates are also widely used in public transportation vehicles such as buses, subways, and high-speed railway vehicles. The Chinese home appliance industry is a potential large market for the application of stainless steel coil plates. In addition, the demand for stainless steel coil plates in the water industry, construction and structural industry, environmental protection industry, and industrial facilities will also increase year by year.
1、 Vehicle/Automotive Industry
This is currently the fastest developing application field for stainless steel coil plates. The use of high-strength stainless steel coil plates to manufacture the vehicle body structure can greatly reduce the vehicle's self weight and enhance the strength of the vehicle body structure. Using stainless steel coil plates as the vehicle's panels and decorative components can reduce maintenance costs. In addition, stainless steel coil plates are also used in automotive exhaust systems due to their advantages of resistance to chloride ion corrosion and heat resistance. Nowadays, countries such as Japan, the United States, and Sweden have extensively used stainless steel rolling stock vehicles. Japan has been promoting it since the 1980s, and currently its stainless steel rolling stock has reached 60%. The car industry is a key development focus for the application of stainless steel coil plates.
2、 Water industry
The problem of water pollution during its storage and transportation has become increasingly important. A large amount of practice has proven that stainless steel coil plates are the best choice for water industry, such as water preparation, storage, transportation, purification, regeneration, and seawater desalination. Its advantages are: corrosion resistance, earthquake resistance, water conservation, hygiene (rust free and copper green), light weight (reduced by 1/3), less maintenance, long service life (can be used for 40 years), low life cycle cost (LCC), and being a recyclable and environmentally friendly material. It is reported that currently, the stainless steel rolling of pipelines in the Tokyo area of Japan has reached 76%, and the leakage rate of pipelines has decreased from the original 14.7% to the current 7.5%. After the major earthquake in Osaka, Japan, stainless steel coiled plate water storage tanks remained intact. Recently, Japan has developed corrugated pipe joints, which have reduced the construction cost of stainless steel coil water pipelines by 20%, total costs by 3%, and maintenance costs by 3/4.
3、 Construction industry
It is one of the earliest fields in which stainless steel coil plates were applied. In terms of architectural decoration, currently, stainless steel rolling plates are mainly used for the cladding of exterior walls, indoor and outdoor columns in high-rise buildings, as well as internal and external decorations and components such as handrails, floors, elevator wall panels, doors and windows, curtain walls, etc. The stainless steel coil plate, which has undergone surface treatment, coloring, and coating, solves the problem of easy fingerprint after touching, further expanding the application range of stainless steel coil plate. Japan has developed various stainless steel rolled sheet roofing materials, such as high and medium chromium ferrite with better corrosion resistance and various coated plates. The super clean brushed surface stainless steel plate developed by Sweden and the UGITOP surface panel developed by Ugine in France provide new choices for the construction industry.
